Essential Home: Android inventor launches own smart home speaker
Andy Rubin, who was the cradle of Android for years ago, presents a clever speaker who wants to shape the smart home in a different way than Google, Apple, or Amazon solutions.
The Essential teacher porn Home, as the speaker is called, works in a similar way to the Amazon Echo, but is equipped with a large, round screen. It positions itself as a central hub for the smart home, and runs on a completely new operating system: Ambient OS.
Ambient OS
Ambient OS is already trying out a slightly smarter way to deal with the property than the competition. For example, the OS wants to learn and anticipate the behavior of residents.
Among other things, a blog post says that suggestions will be given. Residents can then take those suggestions to heart or refuse it. Such as the warning that another lamp burns at a time when it should not be.
The approach to getting a smarter home is therefore a bit different from Amazon Echo, Apple HomeKit and Google Home. Thus, the Essential Home is open to all virtual assistants like Alexa (Amazon), Siri (Apple), Bixby (Samsung) and Google Assistant. And, according to us, seems to be the way to go. Ambient OS is also open source, as Andy Rubin said yesterday, and follows the same path as Android at that time.
Ambient OS promises to make a lot of less appeal to the cloud and make the intelligence of Essential Home itself as much as possible. By doing so, it wants to safeguard the privacy and store data of residents locally. It will therefore try to check the devices over the home network.
Interacting with the Essential Home can be done in different ways: by touch or by voice. And while details are scarce because we can only go on marketing material and render, the smart speaker seems to be able to control your lamps, play music and answer various questions.
